Cold and Hot Therapy

The application of heat or cold is a natural drug-free way to help treat minor injuries and to reduce swelling.

Cold helps to relieve pain in several ways:

  • It soothes the nerve endings in an injured area, lessening the sensation of pain
  • It reduces the swelling caused by blood flow to the area
  • It eases the throbbing sensation so often experienced with an injury

In many cases, heat is applied after cold therapy. Heat soothes aches and pains by increasing blood flow and suppleness of muscles and joints. It is useful for those suffering from arthritis or rheumatism.

Cold and hot therapy is an excellent way to help ease pain and speed up recovery. For a convenient way to apply heat or cold, use a 3M™ Nexcare™ ColdHot™ Comfort Pack.
